Henley Hawks vs Tonbridge Juddians – Saturday, April 5th, kick-off 3pm

By Alistair Beynon

Returning to action following a week’s rest, Henley Hawks head into their final three fixtures of the 2024/25 season hoping to finish it on a high. However, Luke Allen’s men will be well aware of the task that lies in front of them starting with the visit of league leaders, Tonbridge Juddians tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off is 3pm.

TJ’s have been in rampant form this season, with 20 victories and just 3 losses to their name. Sitting comfortably at the top of National 2 East, and 7 points clear of second placed Barnes, the Kent side look odds on favourites to return to National 1 following a three-year break. The two sides met at the start of December, and TJ’s put together a clinical performance that day brushing aside the Hawks 17-0 in dreadful conditions.

In terms of team selection, the week’s break has meant that Allen welcomes back a couple of faces into the match day squad that missed out at Canterbury a fortnight ago. In the pack sees the welcome return of Sam Lunnon in the second row with the influential lock having been out injured for several weeks. Ivor Langley starts in place of Spencer Hayhow at hooker whilst Kadeem Collins also comes back into the starting XV at loosehead prop. The backs have a settled look about them and are unchanged from the game at Canterbury game.

The provisional Henley Hawks side to face Tonbridge on Saturday is as follows:

1. Kadeem Collins, 2. Ivor Langley, 3. Rory Mason ©, 4. Sam Lunnon, 5. Liam Goodison, 6. Marcus Lowe, 7. Roan Noone, 8. Will Benning, 9. Aidan Pugh, 10. Toby Howe, 11. Lailand Gordon, 12. Leo Webb, 13. George Wood, 14. Guy Rawsthorn, 15. Max Titchener

Replacements: 16. Louis Bailey, 17. Nelly Kinnibuurgh, 18. Jake Rawcliffe, 19. Jamar Richardson, 20. Callum Jones

Elsewhere on Saturday, the 2nd XV welcome Amersham & Chiltern 2’s to Dry Leas with a 1.30pm kick-off. Meanwhile, the 3’s travel to Bracknell 2’s, kick-off 3pm. Both sides will be aiming to continue their unbeaten runs. On Sunday, Henley Hawks Women will be aiming to end their season on a high when they welcome North Bristol to Dry Leas for their final game of the 2024/25 Championship season. Kick-off is 2pm.
