Henley Rugby Club are thrilled to announce that we raised £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support during the 2025/26 season, an incredible amount that will do so much to help the lives of people living with cancer. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated money to this wonderful charity.

The club presented the cheque to Macmillan last Thursday, and commenting on the fundraising effort, Club President Nigel Dudding said, 'Macmillan Cancer Support are a fantastic charity, and we are absolutely delighted with the response to the fundraising effort from our members and supporters. It gave us a huge amount of pride to present this cheque to them, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them in the future'.

Emma Wright, Relationship Fundraising Team Manager at Macmillan Cancer Support added, 'We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Henley Rugby Club for their outstanding support over the past season, raising an incredible £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, with a further £10,000 raised through their participation in the House of Lords vs House of Commons Tug of War. Their passion, commitment and community spirit have been truly inspiring.'

'At Macmillan, we know that cancer can affect every part of a person’s life, and it’s something that touches every community. In fact, 1 in 2 people in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. The funds raised by Henley Rugby Club will help us provide vital emotional, financial, and practical support to people living with cancer and their families when they need it most.'

'In Oxfordshire, Macmillan professionals, including our nurses, information and support teams, and welfare rights advisers, supported over 1,000 people in 2025 alone. With more people than ever needing our support, this generous donation will help ensure we can continue to be there for everyone who needs us across the county.'

'We can’t thank everyone involved enough for their commitment. Their support is helping us work towards a future where everyone can access the care they need, as we campaign for cancer care to be fair for all.'

We will be announcing our Charity Partner for the 2026/27 season in due course.
