Henley Rugby Club legend Mark Venner is back to coach Henley 3s for the 2026/27 season. In what is a big coup for the club, Venner's presence around Dry Leas will undoubtedly create a positive environment for the squad ahead of their new season starting with a visit to Bracknell 4s on Saturday, October 3rd.
Venner had an illustrious playing career which started with 175 caps for Weston Super Mare 1s, and captaining Somerset to a County Championship final at Twickenham. He joined Henley in 1997 and played 154 times for the Hawks, also captaining them for 3 years in the old English Championship. He then captained and played over 80 games for Henley Wanderers and also played over 30 games for Henley Vultures.
During his playing career, he also earned 5 Barbarian caps and 4 England Legend (over 35s) caps.
Post retirement, Venner went on to coach every age group at Henley, bringing his two sons through the Mini and Junior set-up. In 2017, he won the RFU National Shield at Worcester with Henley U17s.
