Henley Hawks Netball Club was founded by Louise Porter, it is her passion for the game that has made the club go from strength to strength. Like most things the club came from humble beginnings, in 2009 in Nettlebed a group of women used to meet on a Monday evening and went by the name of “Nettlebed Back To Netball Group”, aka the Nettlebed Stingers. With such a demand for netball and only one court to train on, it was time to find a new home.
In 2021 the club officially relocated to Henley Rugby Club, training on both the Rupert House School Netball Courts and Henley College Sports Hall. This move allowed us to grow and offer more netball to the local community, we now offer multiple sessions a week, which are suitable for all.
We are immensely proud to have five league teams representing us in PREM, DIV2, DIV3 and DIV4 in the Maidenhead District Netball League (MDNL) as well as DIV1 in Reading District Netball League (RDNL). Thank you to our match kit sponsors for the season Hart Street Tavern and Tara Neil Kitchens. We are also excited to be branching out into the Berkshire PREM League for the 25/26 season for the first time, and we are hosting trials for this.
Our Junior and Youth sections are thriving. Our Junior sessions were in such demand we added an extra session, these all run on a Sunday morning for year group YR2-YR9 from 8.15-11am at Rupert House Netball Courts. On a Tuesday evening we run Youth Netball for YR9-YR13, and we are seeing our young people really push themselves and flourish in the sport.
In April 2023 we launched the Henley Hawks Mens Netball team, which quickly led to the development of a Mixed Netball team. Both squads are going from strength to strength in the EMMNA National League and Championships and carving a name for themselves.
As a club we promote mental and physical health both on and off the court. We aim to strengthen our community through connections made in sport. Sport unifies us all and diversifies our friendship groups. Women’s sport is on the rise and we aim to install values of acceptance and inclusion through team sports.
New players are always welcome to join us, your first session is FREE. Pop us a message for more details and be sure to follow us on social media #henleyhawksnetballclub
